Like a summer’s day that never returns, SUMMER is a chandelier created as part of the ONE AND ONLY collection. It was born from the creative process of the Gie El designers, using unique glass shades. This is a one-of-a-kind piece that will never be reproduced – just like a warm childhood morning in summertime.

The SUMMER chandelier features seven shades that fill the interior with warmth, like rays of the summer sun. Three of the shades are made of transparent glass infused with tiny air bubbles. When illuminated, each bubble becomes a miniature lens, scattering golden light in all directions – a spectacle that would never occur with “pure” glass.

The remaining four shades are made of pastel turquoise glass with exceptional optical qualities. During the day, they softly reflect sunlight. When lit from within, their colour transforms, flowing seamlessly from deep navy to turquoise, and finally to a pale, almost white top – like a gradient sky at dusk on a summer evening.

The lamp forms in the SUMMER chandelier are closed at the bottom, with light entering through a slender neck at the top via a braided cord. The shades resemble balloons filled with light, suspended upside down on steel cables, with bulbs fed into them via cords sheathed in steel braid. Due to the chandelier’s bespoke nature, elements such as hanging height, ceiling mounting method, and canopy colour can be tailored to your individual preferences. For this reason, the lead time is three weeks.

The entire composition is suspended in a spatial arrangement with varied heights – making it suitable for both horizontal and vertical installations. SUMMER is the light of holiday mornings and evenings: golden, pastel, pulsating – and 100% one-of-a-kind.
