The SAFIR collection is the essence of colour – full of energy and intensity. Its source is cobalt – a deep, magnetic shade that in the hands of Gie El’s designers becomes both material and emotion, a true signature of form. SAFIR is a story about light pulsing inside glass and shaping the atmosphere of a space.

SAFIR 1 is the smallest and most delicate composition in the collection. It consists of twenty cobalt shards of fractured glass – irregular, varied in texture, sometimes perfectly smooth, sometimes softly opalescent. Its light and graceful form gives it an air of elegance, while the vivid hue of the glass adds character and depth.

The glass pieces in SAFIR 1 are suspended on braided fibre optics that enter the glass and illuminate it from within. The light disperses through each fragment’s structure, creating soft reflections and gentle glows. After dusk, SAFIR 1 becomes a luminous installation – subtle yet full of energy. It’s light that doesn’t dominate but envelops the space in a warm, ambient glow.
