Designers envisioned an underwater life rich in shapes and rounded forms. A subdued color palette, rich in air bubbles, and reflections of light penetrating the depths of the water. Silence and peace. The boutique chandelier UNDER_A is a sensitive and subtle response to the need for introducing a small lamp with a sculptural character into interiors. UNDER_A is the smallest yet most charming composition in the UNDER collection. It is characterized by minimalism, picturesque allure, and hand-blown glass shades. Handcrafting and the artisanal nature of glassmaking are part of Gie El’s identity. Glass shades are crafted using foundry furnaces heated to temperatures of a thousand degrees. Hot glass is blown and shaped into organically rounded shades, each one unique and distinctive. UNDER offers a fresh perspective on this beautiful and natural material created by human hands. “What we paid attention to and what was challenging in creating the UNDER collection was how light emerges from within the shade,” say the designers and founders of the Gie El brand, Maria and Jacek Rypułowie. “Our experience with working with light translates into seeking new forms and their compositions that interact with light. We pay attention to how light behaves within the interior, and its interaction with it.
